From Karlee...
Hello! My name is Karlee Dennis. I am from Lebanon, Oregon. I am 21
years old. I was in a car wreck at the beginning of my senior year in
high school. I broke my back and had a severe concussion. After that, I
wasn't able to dance on the dance team any more. Part of my recovering
from the wreck was massage, along with chiropractic adjustments and
acupuncture. That is a huge part of why I wanted to do massage therapy.
I benefitted a lot from massage and I want to be able to share that
healing gift with others. I went to Oregon School of Massage in Salem,
Oregon. I attended for 19 months and graduated in December of
2009. While I was there, I studied both eastern and western tracks of
massage (Shiatsu and Swedish). Shiatsu is kind of like acupuncture in
the sense that it follows the meridians/channels, and they each relate
to a specific organ. Shiatsu is done with clothes on. In Japanese
Shiatsu means "finger pressure", so there is a lot of that, along with
rocking, stretching, percussion, compression and deep breathing. Swedish
is the western style of massage. It is done directly on the skin. All
parts of the body that aren't being worked on stay covered with a
blanket. Swedish style massage uses oil or lotion so that long, smooth
strokes can be performed. It can be deep tissue or light and relaxing,
depending on your needs. I have also learned hot stone massage, Reiki,
cranio-sacral and aromatherapy. If you have any questions, or if I can
do anything to help you, please let me know! It's what I live for!
Please call me at 541-401-7453 or
email me!

Kathleen Shepard is a Licensed
Massage Therapist and a graduate of the Oregon School of Massage. Her
main focus is “therapeutic” massage, striving to find solutions that
will relieve stress, ease pain and discomfort and promote healing. She
has found great success achieving these goals through Japanese
Restorative Therapy, which uses compressions and vibration along with
AIRS (Active Isolated Resisted Stretching).
Kathleen
practices several days a week at the office of Dr James Gross
Chiropractic in Albany and has her own business, “Back To Normal
Therapeutic Massage” in Lebanon. She primarily uses Japanese Restorative
Therapy in her practice, integrating other techniques such as Deep
Tissue and Swedish, Trigger Point and Shiatsu massage according to her
clients needs. She is currently working towards her Certification in
Pregnancy Massage with intentions to massage during pregnancy, at birth
and postpartum. You can also find her once a month at the Council of
Governments giving staff chair massages.
