Throughout the Living Well, Aging Well Health Expo,
all community members are invited to visit the OSU Master Gardener
Demonstration Garden, located directly behind the main events center.
Many dedicated Master Gardener Volunteers will greet visitors and give
them a chance to ask gardening-related questions and learn new
techniques. Below, Master Gardener Bonnie White tells of her experience
with the garden:

The Living Garden
My first introduction to this secret garden was in
2003 as a new Master Gardener. As I stepped through the garden gate, this
garden was no longer a secret to me. It had become my classroom to learn
many new things. This is where I first learned about the Square foot
gardening method. I learned the technique from two veteran Master
Gardeners, Pam Allocius and Dana Belisle. Before I knew it, they had
asked me to teach the class that July on the technique. I had the perfect
demonstrations for the class, four very different square foot garden
beds. I not only learned a new gardening technique but a tool to teach
children math, planning and reading graphs.
So the secret is out: our garden is a place
where demonstration happens. I have been privileged to be the demo garden
class coordinator for the last two years. I anxiously look forward to the
new year of demonstrations at the garden.
